November 8th Auction at Manchester Craft and Design Centre

MCDC is having an auction for charity on 8th November.
Resident artists and makers have made unique pieces, all of which can be viewed here: http://www.manchestercraftcharityauction.com/
Visit the website to see all of the items you can snap up for ery reasonable prices! Half of the money made goes to a good cause and it's your chance to own something that's a one off.

The colour scheme was orange and neautral, as  the MCDC logo is orange. The building used to be a fish market, so fishing is a recurring theme! Some pieces also reflect a more personal story of time spent working from the Craft Centre or Manchester's role as an industrial, creative hub.

Here are some examples of beautiful pieces included in the auction:

This lovely paper cut is by Nell. I am really fond of Nell's paper cuts; she combines her illustrative skills of animals with their latin names. Make sure you check them out in her upstairs studio at the Craft Centre should you visit.

Nell talks about how she made her auction piece on her blog; http://nellsmith.blogspot.co.uk/

This is Julia's fancy necklace and is based on the Craft Centre's windows. It's lovely isn't it?

This beautiful busy bee is made by talented silversmith Selina Campbell.
Selina's blog is  brimming with information about what she makes and workshops she's running!

This snazzy bag is Suzanne Devine's auction piece.  This is Sue's first design to include rivets; a really nice aesthetic.

This is Amy Wilkinson's fish scales necklace, which includes a smokey quartz. I'm always very impressed by Amy's technical skill; she's a very clever silversmith!

There are plenty of other beautiful pieces, I shall have to do another blog post at some point!

My piece is also in the auction:
